A Monessen man was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in state prison following his guilty pleas in three separate drug cases that occurred in Charleroi Borough.

Michael L. Standard Jr., 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Washington on County Judge Valarie Costanzo to three counts of delivery of heroin. A jury trial for Standard was scheduled to begin Wednesday.

Two charges stem from two separate drug sales that occurred in November 2011. The most recent incident stemmed from Standard’s arrest in August 2014 after Charleroi Regional police received a tip about suspected drug activity at a Ninth Street apartment. Standard and Antoine J. Hairston, 22, of Monessen, were taken into custody at the apartment at 210 Ninth.

The two residents of the apartment gave police permission to search, and a marijuana cigar and 361 stamp bags of heroin were found.

Police said Standard had $651 in cash while the other man had $35.

The two residents of the apartment told police the men came to the apartment to sell heroin in exchange for giving them some of the drug.

Hairston pleaded guilty in May to possession with intent to deliver and false identification to law enforcement and was sentenced by Washington County Judge John DiSalle to up to 36 months in prison.

In addition to Standard’s sentence, he must also forfeit the $651 police found when he was arrested by the Washington County Drug Task Force.

He has been in Washington County jail on $75,000 bond since his most recent arrest.
