Carroll woman charged with stealing checks at Mon Valley Hospital
A Carroll Township woman is accused of stealing checks from a patient and visitor at Mon Valley Hospital and depositing them into her boyfriend’s bank account while she worked there as a nursing assistant, court records show.
Carroll police Friday arrested Donna Kay Gaito, 36, and her boyfriend, David J. Mathews, 43, both of 711 Dry Run Road, on allegations they conspired to use the three checks to steal a total of $1,650 from the two victims between Aug. 24 and Sept. 19, court records show.
Both suspects are charged with forgery, bad checks, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Gaito faces an additional theft charge.
They are free on $5,000 bonds set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Hospital spokeswoman Corrine Laboon said policy prevented her from commenting on the status of Gaito’s employment.
