Ex-high school band director charged with sex with student, 17

1 min read

DILLSBURG (AP) – A man who resigned as band director of a central Pennsylvania school district two years ago is now charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student shortly before he quit.

The attorney for 28-year-old Jeremy Leidhecker, of Williamsport, says he was “completely blindsided” by the new charges, for which Leidhecker faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 27. The attorney says he knows of no new evidence since the allegations surfaced in September 2013 at the Northern York County School District.

That’s when state police say a neighbor says he saw the student enter Leidhecker’s apartment, heard “sexual noises” and then saw them exit hastily.

Police say Leidhecker denied wrongdoing then until he confronted with online photo chat records suggesting he and the student had a relationship.

Leidhecker resigned then, but Robinson says that was to pursue another job.
