Suspect in custody in some recent Beaver Falls arsons

1 min read

BEAVER FALLS (AP) – Police said they have a suspect in custody in connection with some of 15 suspicious fires in vacant homes and garages in the Western Pennsylvania city of Beaver Falls.

Online court records show 31-year-old Zachary Metcalf has been charged with nine counts of arson and one count of criminally entering a structure.

Police planned a news conference later Tuesday to discuss the details of the case and the arrest, which occurred earlier in the day.

Nobody was hurt in any of the fires, which began in late August and all targeted abandoned homes with no utility service or garages.

Court records show the Beaver Falls man has been jailed and faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 9. Those records do not list a defense attorney.
