Fishing for a clue

As Mystery Photos go, this one is fairly recent. No, it was not taken last Saturday, the first day of Pennsylvania’s trout season. We know it was taken in spring 2004 – just 12 years ago.

Sometime after the Observer-Reporter’s new color press was installed in 1993 and when digital cameras eliminated film, color photos like this one were developed and printed commercially, and a stamp on the back of this print notes the date of May 21, 2004. It was found in a box of unidentified photos in the newspaper’s Waynesburg office.

So, although we know when the picture was taken, we don’t know who this man and little girl are, or where they were fishing.

We are hoping our readers can help us identify the pair, and perhaps the buildings in the background will assist in determining the location.

If you think you know who this supposed father and daughter are, or where their images were captured, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him along with your telephone number at 724-222-2200, extension 2400. With a little help from our readers, we should be able to solve this mystery and publish our findings next Monday.
