Police bust marijuana grow operation in Pittsburgh home
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police busted a large marijuana grow operation in Pittsburgh over the weekend, recovering approximately 70 marijuana plants from a home in the city’s Hazelwood section.
Thirty-three-year-old Michael David Sullivan was arrested Sunday and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police responded to Sullivan’s Hazelwood Avenue home following complaints of a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence.
While officers were securing a search warrant for the property, Sullivan exited out of a back door and was arrested.
Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler says a total of 72 plants were found in addition to seeds and other components of a home-grow operation.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for Sullivan, who faces a preliminary hearing April 12.
