Rostraver retail theft suspect apprehended
MONESSEN – A Pricedale man wanted in six separate retail theft cases in Rostraver Township was apprehended Friday during a traffic stop in neighboring Monessen.
Monessen police charged Anthony Garofalo, 37, of 1115 Hill St., with identifying himself as his dead brother, Micheal, after police stopped a vehicle in which he was a passenger about 12:45 a.m. in the 600 block of Reed Avenue, court records show.
Garofalo also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, which included four empty heroin stamp bags, police said.
Rostraver police charged him in five retail theft incidents at the Walmart at 100 Sara Way between July 23 and Aug. 3. In some of the cases, he also was charged with trespassing in the store. The sixth retail theft case accuses him of stealing merchandise from the nearby Lowe’s hardware store July 23, court records show.
Garofalo was in Washington County jail on $35,000 bond set Friday by District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
