Chartiers man charged with assault
A Chartiers Township man was arrested Friday night by township police after he allegedly fired a shot toward his house during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.
Police were called about 8 p.m. to a home at 315 Western Ave., for a report of a gunshot and a woman screaming for help.
When police arrived, they talked to 27-year-old Bobbi Fine. She told officers she and Matthew John Andrews, 23, whom she identified as her boyfriend, got into an argument while driving back to the home. Once they arrived at the residence, Andrews reportedly told her he was inside to get his belongings because he was leaving.
Fine told police she got out of the car and was standing in the driveway when Andrews walked out of the house carrying a .40-caliber Glock pistol. The two were arguing when he reportedly fired a round toward the back of the house only feet from where she was standing.
Fine said she started screaming for help because her cellphone was dead and she was unable to call 911.
She told police she locked herself in the car until they arrived.
Andrews was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. He was released from Washington County Jail Monday after posting $20,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25 before District Judge David Mark.
