Spending in Dems’ Senate primary hits $10M in Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Spending in Pennsylvania’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate is pushing past $10 million.
Emily’s List, a Washington, D.C.-based group that supports Democratic women candidates who support abortion rights, said Friday it is pouring another $750,000 into the race.
Emily’s List had already committed $1 million to help Katie McGinty. Also running in the three-way Democratic Party primary are Joe Sestak and John Fetterman.
They’re seeking the nomination to take on Republican incumbent Pat Toomey. He’s seeking a second six-year term.
Outside groups are spending more than $4 million in the race, most of it to aid McGinty. Meanwhile, Sestak’s campaign reports that it spent $1.5 million in the three-month period ending April 6, while McGinty’s campaign reporting spending $2 million in the period.
The primary election is April 26.
