A Fayette County woman could face charges after she reportedly lied when she said she was raped in the parking lot of a Somerset Township business.

The 18-year-old Grindstone woman told police she was sitting inside a vehicle at Adultmart off the Kammerer exit of Interstate 70 when a white, heavyset man, between 40 and 50 years old, raped her.

She told police her alleged assailant was driving a tractor-trailer. She also claimed her boyfriend beat up her attacker. All those reportedly involved in the incident left before state police arrived at the business.

On Sunday, the 18-year-old reportedly gave the investigator a statement indicating she was never raped and fabricated the claim because she was intoxicated.

State police may charge her with making false reports to police after consulting with the Washington County District Attorney’s office.
