A California Borough woman and her two dogs were able to escape after a fire broke out at her mobile home at 837 Green St. Wednesday morning. California fire Chief Tom Hartley Jr. said when firefighters arrived just after 7 a.m. about 80 percent of the home was engulfed in flames.

The owner, Eve Grinstead, was not injured but two California firefighters suffered minor burns on their shoulders while fighting the blaze, Hartley said. California firefighters were assisted by the West Brownsville and Roscoe volunteer fire departments. The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
