Two charged: Christopher E. Sturm, 23, of Philippi, W.Va., and Larry S. Vincent, II, 23, of Fairmont, W.Va., were each charged Monday by state police in connection with a Feb. 12 traffic stop on Interstate 79 northbound, north of the Marianna exit, Amwell. Sturm was stopped for speeding and found with marijuana and paraphernalia. The two were each charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Sturm also was charged with driving under the influence of marijuana and speeding. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.

Charged in crash: Joseph W. Haywood, 38, of 858 Washington Road, Prosperity, was charged Monday by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to render aid, failure to report a crash and traffic violations in connection with a March 28 crash on Route 19 near Pineland Ridge and Amity Ridge roads, Amwell. Police said his blood alcohol level was almost three times the 0.08 limit for intoxication. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.

Assault arrest: Chad E. Marsland, 45, of 711 Madison St., Brownsville, was arrested Tuesday morning by Bentleyville police after he allegedly pushed Christine Carnes out of his moving vehicle as he drove on Beallsville Road. He then left the scene. She had injuries to her head, arms and hands. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and reckless endangerment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Two injured: Kelli Stein, 43, of 450 W. Wylie Ave., Canton Township, and Cyndi Miller, 30, of Elco, were injured Monday afternoon when Miller’s driverless car struck Stein in the parking lot of Walgreens, 100 Cavasina Drive. Miller told police she was partially in her vehicle when it started moving. She told police it was in park and that she tried the emergency brake, but the pedal fell off. Miller slipped out of the vehicle. Miller’s friend jumped in and also tried to stop it before it hit Stein. The Canton woman was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of multiple injuries. Miller suffered a leg injury and told police she would seek treatment later. Her car was impounded and will be checked for mechanical malfunctions.

Brothers charged: Jesse A. Flament, 25, and Michael J. Flament, 28, both of 302 Washington Ave., Charleroi, are each charged by Charleroi Regional police with theft, conspiracy and trespassing, court records show. The brothers are accused of stealing scrap copper, brass and lead valued at $900 from the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi, 3 McKean Ave., about 1 p.m. April 11. Jesse Flament is in Washington County jail on $50,000 set Tuesday by District Judge Larry Hopkins. Michael Flament will receive his charges in a summons from Hopkins.

Disorderly, mischief charges: Jordan T. Irwin, 20, of 787 Regent Drive, Washington, was charged Monday by Donegal police with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and underage drinking after he allegedly damaged property inside a residence at 22 Eighth St., Claysville, on March 30. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.

False information: William J. Walker, 36, of 436 Brad Ave., Canton Township, was charged last week by state police with illegal transfer of firearms and unsworn falsification for allegedly putting false information on a firearms application on Oct. 6 at ARH Sports Shop, Route 40, Donegal. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.

Theft charges: Jeff Lenzi, whose last known address was McKean Avenue, Donora, was charged last week in a private criminal complaint filed by Donald Duff of West Alexander with theft and theft by deception. Duff reportedly paid Lenzi of Fine Design Taxidermy $450 to mount a deer head. Lenzi reportedly told Duff that it would take five months. Duff reportedly tried to contact Lenzi but all of his telephone numbers were disconnected. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.

Indecent assault: James F. Yancec, 32, of 209 Johnson Ave., Pricedale, was charged by township police with indecent assault on a child and endangering the welfare of a child over accusations he inappropriately touched a girl in his home, court records show. Police investigated the case Feb. 8 and filed the charges Tuesday before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso. Yancec has yet to be arraigned in the case.

Contractor charged: Shane Eckels, 29, of Pittsburgh, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of theft by deception and failure to perform home improvement services filed by Rostraver police. He was reportedly paid by a Lenity School Road homeowner for home improvement work that was never started, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Theft arrest: Latoya Marie Smith, 30, of 1673 Streator Ave., South Strabane, was arrested Tuesday by South Strabane police on a felony charge of retail theft after she allegedly stole $170 in merchandise from Giant Eagle, Strabane Square. Police said she has two prior retail theft convictions and a pending charge stemming from a January incident in South Strabane. She was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

Drug, DUI charges: Kylee Laine Sapp, 27, of 265 Shirls Ave., faces charges by summons for DUI, drug possession and driving with a suspended license in connection with a Dec. 31, 2015, traffic stop at the intersection of North Main Street and Wilson Avenue in which she was driving erratically and without turn signals, state police said. Sapp allegedly was in possession of marijuana and a glass pipe.

Vandalism reported: A vehicle owned by Sam Maloy of Wellsburg, W.Va., was damaged Tuesday while parked at Westland Muffler, 99 Maple Ave. The front door of the building also was damaged.
