Police beat April 26
Warrant arrest: Pamela M. Schmitt, 31, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon as a fugitive from justice after state police located her at 1116 E. National Pike, Amwell. She was wanted on a warrant in West Virginia, police said. She was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and is being held at Washington County jail pending extradition to West Virginia.
Two charged: Christina Marie Darabant, 28, of 800 John St., Langeloth, and Michael L. Preston, 37, of 937 Mary St., Langeloth, were arraigned last week before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of receiving stolen property, theft and conspiracy filed by McDonald police stemming from thefts last month at Kwik Fill, 1604 Main St. Darabant is accused of twice stealing from the store. Darabant is free on $5,000 unsecured bond, while Preston was released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
Card information accessed: Michele Pinto and Ray Kochanski, both of Canonsburg, told Canonsburg police over the weekend that information from their respective debit cards was accessed and used to make purchases. Pinto’s information was used in Carnegie, while Kochanski’s was used to buy a laptop in Georgia.
Assault charges: David J. Restelli, 38, of 147 Ridge Road, Carroll Township, is charged by township police with simple assault and harassment over accusations he struck Pamela Fike in the neck about 5 p.m. April 20 at 466 Crackerjack Road, court records show. Restelli is free on $5,000 bond set Friday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Firearms violation alleged: Robert Cook, 56, of 3207 Reissing Road, Cecil, is charged will illegal possession of a firearm under a simple assault conviction, court records show. Cook is accused of having a large amount of ammunition and three rifles at his residence when police were called there over an argument about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. He is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Drug arrest: Alexandria R. Allen, 27, of Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with burglary, possession of three stamp bags of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Allen is accused of breaking into 708 Fifth St. about 3:30 p.m. Friday to retrieve a bag of clothing and the heroin. She is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson. She also is being held on a parole violation.
Officer assaulted: Shawn L. Brown, 45, of 451 Fifth St., Donora, is charged by borough police with aggravated assault, simple assault, burglary, trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show. Brown is accused of kicking officer Josh Haines during a struggle to place Brown into a police cruiser, prompting another patrolman to deploy a Taser on him. The struggle took place after police were called about 3:45 a.m. Sunday to investigate a separate assault at 418 Short St. Brown is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Man jailed: Raymond Leytrick, 79, of 191 Howard St., McDonald, is charged by borough police with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment, court records show. He is accused of pointing a handgun at Jennifer Voight and threatening to kill her about 4:40 p.m. Sunday at his residence. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Driver charged: Jeffrey McConnell Jr., 26, no address given, will be charged for allegedly failing to stop for police who were attempting to pull his vehicle over for a traffic violation at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday in Nineveh. Morris Township police said McConnell fled at a high rate of speed. He later turned himself in and faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police, reckless driving and other charges.
Faces theft charge: Andrew J. Rozik, 32, of 221 Johnson Road, Belle Vernon, faces a charge of retail theft after he allegedly stole Under Armor clothing from Macy’s, Washington Crown Center, on Saturday, North Franklin police said. He was placed in Washington County jail on bench warrants and a probation detainer.
Theft arrest: Julie Lynn Maynard, 31, of 211 Crawford St., Houston, was charged Friday by North Franklin police with theft by deception after she allegedly stole items from Sears, Washington Crown Center, on April 8, and returned them for a gift card valued at $167.43.
Sunglasses stolen: Mark D. Myers, 35, of 1030 Locust Ave., Washington, was charged Friday by North Franklin police with retail theft after he allegedly stole a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses Feb. 4 from Sears, Washington Crown Center.
Grenade found: The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called Saturday after a live grenade was found in a home in the 500 block of Franklin Farms Road, North Franklin police said. The grenade was taken by police to the department’s firing range, where it was detonated by the bomb squad.
One vehicle accident: No one was hurt, but one car had to be towed following a one-car accident April 23 on East McMurray Road. According to reports, Tracie Zimmerman, 41, of Charleroi, the driver, swerved to avoid a stopped car. She hit a mailbox and telephone pole.
Yard turfed: John K. Lauff of 1021 North Branch Road, Robinson, told McDonald police April 18 three vehicles “turfed” his field. One of the drivers told police they were doing it for fun.
Truck struck: Dennis O’Shea of Butler told McDonald police April 19 his vehicle was hit with a beer can by the driver of a blue pickup truck as they passed on Robinson Highway.
Drug chage: Edwin Raye Green, 41, of 537N Webster Hollow Road, Webster, was observed using heroin near Staples Thursday and faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, Rostraver police said.
Assault charges: David Darryle Jeffries, 24, of 432 Knox Ave., Monessen, faces charges of simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment for an incident Friday in which he allegedly ran someone off the road and struck her once she exited her vehicle, Rostraver police said.
Theft charges: Brandy Pierce, 35, of 38 Bowman St., North Charleroi, faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property after a March 27 incident in which she allegedly stole a victim’s wallet from her purse while at Denny’s on Rostraver Road, Rostraver police said.
Assault charges: Andrea Kusiolek, 29, of 311 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, faces two charges of simple assault and one count of criminal mischief stemming from a domestic dispute at 546 Allen Ave. in Belle Vernon Sunday, Rostraver police said.
Theft, drug charges: Teresa A. Richards, 56, of 751 Weirich Ave., Canton Township, was arrested Saturday by South Strabane police on charges of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance. She is accused of stealing items from Walmart, Trinity Point, When she was apprehended, police said they found her with Naloxin and three packets of Suboxone. She was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and released Monday from Washington County jail after posting $10,000 bond.
Money stolen: Linda Schnellback of 865 ½ Ewing St. told Washington police Sunday $2,000 was stolen from her bank account. Police have a suspect.
Theft arrest: Joyce Ann Cole, 49, of 656 Fayette St., Washington, was arrested Monday by Washington police on a felony charge of retail theft stemming from an Oct. 26 incident at Family Dollar, 130 Highland Ave. She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
Man assaulted: Steven Moses, 29, of Washington, was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment after an altercation Saturday night in the Brownson House lot on Jefferson Avenue. Charges are pending against his alleged attacker, Washington police said.
Door damaged: Sherman Brown of 595 Broad St. told Washington police Sunday the glass in the storm door of his home was broken. He told police his house was entered, a dresser drawer was damaged and two DVDs were stolen.
Account accessed: Donald Hodges of Townville, Crawford County, told Washington police over the weekend that his debit card was accessed and money stolen from his bank account. Police have a suspect.
Faces drug charge: Christopher Patterson, 31, of 253 Reed Ave., Houston, will be charged by Washington police with possession of cocaine after he was found in a vehicle in the 900 block of Allison Avenue Friday. He was placed in Washington County Jail on a parole detainer.
Warrant arrest: Brian Kelley, 33, no address listed, was taken into custody on an Allegheny County bench warrant after he was found Friday in the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue. Police also plan on charging him with possession of crack. Police say two bags were found in the cruiser after officers took him to the station. He was placed in Washington County Jail on the warrants. Laurie Blackburn, 38, of 1320 Allison Ave., Washington, who police said was with Kelley, will be charged with possession of paraphernalia after she reportedly told officers she had needles and crack pipe.
Theft charge: Washington police charged Ronald Avance, 32, of 138 Hall Ave. with theft Monday. Police say Avance allegedly took tools worth an estimated $5,000 from a vehicle parked near his building on April 9.
Items stolen: Brandon Thomas of 617 N. Main St. told Washington police Friday his Access card, blue jeans, shoes, X-box, ties and shirts were stolen from his apartment.
Window damaged: A stained-glass window at Nazareth Baptist Church, 123 N. Lincoln St., was damaged Friday with a stone, Washington police said.
Jailed in assault: Celeste J. Lloyd, 23, of 145 Woodland Road, Daisytown, is charged by state police with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment over accusations she bit Eric Shipley while he broke up a fight involving Lloyd and her sister about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in her residence, court records show. Lloyd is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
