The Washington County coroner identified the man found dead Monday as a Canton Township resident.

Two fisherman discovered the body of Albert Morrell, 65, of Cortez Drive, floating in Chartiers Creek about 5:30 p.m. near the 800 block of Henderson Avenue.

Morrell was last seen about 8 p.m. Sunday. He lived a few blocks from where his body was discovered and was often seen walking in the area.

Coroner Tim Warco said the cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and toxicology. State police are continuing the investigation, talking with people who may have seen him in the past few days, but they do not believe his death is suspicious.

Canton firefighters assisted at the scene.
