Police beat Aug. 9
Truck stolen: Matthew Reynolds of McDonald told McDonald police Sunday his blue Ford F-250 pickup truck was stolen from 1203 Main St., Burgettstown. The four-door truck was last seen about 5 p.m. Saturday. The keys might have been left in the truck by an employee so the vehicle could be put away. The truck has license ZCK-7612. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call McDonald police at 724-926-2105.
Package stolen: Justin Thaxton of 333 W. Pike St. told Canonsburg police Friday a package from Amazon delivered to his home Aug. 2 by a postal carrier was stolen. He told police he confirmed the package was delivered.
Woman charged: Carol Jackson, 51, of 809 Lookout Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with felony retail theft over accusations she stole $3.50 worth of merchandise about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Dollar General at 514 Fallowfield Ave., court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge in a summons Thursday.
Charges filed in crash: Nicholas G. Geffel, 23, of 41 Tyler Ave., Fallowfield Township, is charged by state police with accidents involving damage to another vehicle and driving without a license after his pickup truck allegedly collided with a car driven by Dave Flament July 17 along Fourth Street near Raymond Street, court records show. Police said they found the damaged truck parked at Geffel’s residence shortly after he fled the accident scene. The charges were filed Thursday before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Assault, resisting arrest charges: Arthur Hamel IV, 28, of Penn, Westmoreland County, was arrested Friday by Hanover police at First Niagara Pavilion on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and open lewdness. Police were called to the holding facility for a highly intoxicated man who reportedly broke a wooden fence. Hamel is accused of struggling with a constable and spitting on a police officer. He was released from Washington County jail Saturday after posting $10,000 bond.
Burglary: State police said jewelry and $700 cash were reported stolen from a house at 1785 Brush Run Road, Hopewell. One or more people are believed to have entered the house through the back door June 30. The items were stolen from various places in the house.
Warrant arrest: Toniann Mrenna, 23, of 102 Noblestown Road, Midway, was taken into custody at her home Aug. 1 on an arrest warrant obtained by Bethel Park police after she allegedly jumped out a window when she saw police approach.
Drug charges: Crystal M. Chalfant, 34, of 1142 Lincoln Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with drug possession over allegations she had 41 doses of illegal narcotics when an officer reportedly found her staggering in the middle of Fourth Street at Olive Avenue about 7:05 p.m. Thursday, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charges in a summons Friday.
Assault alleged: Philip Corey Linnen, 53, of 160 Spruce St., Clairton, is charged by township police with simple assault and terroristic threats over allegations he slapped and threw food at his girlfriend, Georgette Payne, and threatened to kill her about 4:40 p.m. Sunday along Route 51 near Willowbrook Plaza, court records show.
Dirt bike stolen: Michael McKee of Frederick Street told Smith police early Sunday his blue and yellow 2007 Yamaha WR 250 dirt bike was stolen from his front porch. The thief removed a tarp covering the bike and cut a chain used to secure it to the porch. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 724-947-5069 or send them a private message on the department’s Facebook page.
Stolen car wrecked: Tara Long told Washington police Saturday morning a 2006 Ford Taurus owned by her son, Tehron Long of Pittsburgh, was stolen from behind her home at 520 Jefferson Ave. She told police a Playstation 4 and $480 were in the car. About an hour after taking the report, police learned the car was involved in a crash in the Churchill area of Allegheny County. The driver fled.
Window broken: Michael Kempf of 1376 Jefferson Ave. told Washington police Saturday a window at his home was broken.
Vehicle scratched: Jasmine Rose of 1123 Bruce St. told Washington police Saturday her vehicle was scratched.
Vending machine damaged: A vending machine inside Canon Coin Laundry, 820 W. Chestnut St., was broken into Sunday and about $200 in snack items were stolen, Washington police said.
Harassment charge: James Skidmore, 56, of 755 Fayette St., Washington, will be charged with harassment for allegedly slapping Kim Beatty, 56, of Washington, in the face Sunday during a confrontation in the 800 block of East Maiden Street, Washington police said.
Parole detainer: Mason Smith, 25, of 515 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was placed in Washington County jail on a probation detainer after Washington police were called to his home twice Sunday. He is accused of assaulting his 56-year-old mother, April Gurnett. He was gone when police arrived. Police were called back about an hour later after he allegedly threw a stool through the glass window on the stove. Police charged him with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
