Police file charges for gun application violations
South Strabane Township police filed charges Monday at the office of District Judge Jay Weller against a dozen people who allegedly provided false information on gun applications at three gun dealers in the township during recent months.
All 12 are charged with providing false information and unsworn falsification.
Charged after trying to buy guns at Field & Stream, 60 Old Mill Boulevard, are Wade T. Rhodes, 32, of 125 Third Ave., New Eagle; Russell Watson, 54, of 44 White Barn Road, Waynesburg; Cathleen Kovalcik, 53, of 95 Lynn Portal Road, Avella; and Joseph Buddenhagen, 32, of 3060 Dividend Drive, South Franklin Township.
Accused of providing false information on applications while trying to make purchases at Ace Sporting Goods, 462 Washington Road, are Tyler J. Corbitt, 24, of 1228 McKean Ave,. Charleroi; James Oberleitner, 56, of 222 Thompsonville Road, McMurray; Dylan J. Allen 21, of Pittsburgh; Jamie Prosser, 35, of 508 Bower Ave., Washington; Corey Brooks, 23, of 247 Glenn Ave., Canonsburg; Frank Messina Jr., 26, of 10 Penny Lane, McDonald; and Dawn Kuhn, 50, of 933 Sycamore St., Washington.
Jeffrey Stanley, 43, of 1410 S. Main St. Ext., Washington, is accused of putting false information on an application to buy a gun at Walmart, Trinity Point.
The charges will be sent by summons from Weller’s office.
