Action: The board ratified an agreement with Camelot Communications, which shot a UPMC commercial shot at Mingo Creek County Park Aug. 16. Camelot is to pay the county $500.

Greater Washington County Food Bank is authorized to spend up to $7,500 to recruit and train volunteers through June 30.

On behalf of the Building and Grounds Department, the board agreed to advertise for bids to evaluate and repair the C and D levels of the Courthouse Square parking garage and evaluate the South Franklin Street parking garage’s potential for additional levels.

The commissioners approved a $50-per-hour purchase-of-service agreement with attorney Rene Colbert to represent Children and Youth Services in juvenile court through June 30. The board also approved an agreement with attorneys Frank C. Kocevar, Erin Dickerson and MariAnn Hathaway to provide legal service and counsel to children associated with CYS agency for the same time period. The maximum authorized amount of the contract is $2,916 per month.

Brittani Berkeley, a caseworker for CYS, will be a full-time student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work’s Child Welfare for Leadership Education.

The board approved West Brownsville Borough’s application to receive equipment, computers, furniture or vehicles donated by the county.

Appointments: Jeffrey Jones, three-year term, Tourism Promotion Agency board; reappointed to the board were Scott Fergus, Camille Kobrys, Matt Luckhardt and Robin McDougal through June 30, 2019; Louis Lignelli Jr., Washington County Tax Assessment Appeals auxiliary board, receiving $30 per hour and replacing Richard White, who resigned for personal reasons.

Salary board: Fifty-five members of the Washington County drug unit of the district attorney’s office will be receiving a $7 per hour raise. The per-diem workers had been receiving $20 an hour. The single per-diem employee on the county detective force will also be receiving the same raise. District Attorney Gene Vittone did not attend the salary board meeting, but the raises were approved by a 4-0 vote by the commissioners and Controller Michael Namie.

Next meeting: 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in the public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building.
