The son of a Hanover Township supervisor continues to make monthly restitution under a payment plan after pleading guilty last month to one count of theft from the municipal recreation board account.

James Daniel Lemmi, 34, of Burgettstown, was credited with a $500 repayment Tuesday, less than a month after entering the plea to a misdemeanor and returning a lump sum of $10,000. He still owes $6,879 in restitution, fees and costs, according to court records.

Sixteen felony counts of forgery filed in connection with checks written from the account between June 1 and Aug. 7 of last year were dismissed when Lemmi appeared in court before Washington County Judge Gary Gilman, who placed Lemmi on probation for 23 months.

Township Solicitor Dennis Makel said earlier this year Hanover Supervisor Kevin Lemmi was instrumental in having state police investigate suspicious activity in the account. James D. Lemmi was living with his grandmother, Betty Lemmi, who was responsible for the recreation board checking account and kept the checkbook at her home.

State police filed charges in November.
