Hit-and-run crash: State police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred about 7:20 a.m. Thursday on Route 21 at Barton Hollow Road in Franklin Township. Police said a vehicle struck a tractor-trailer driven by Ralph T. Thomas, 55, of Baltimore, and left the scene. Thomas was not injured and there was minor damage to his rig, police said.

Contraband at jail: State police said they plan to cite Tamara J. Stoken, 41, of Irwin, for bringing contraband to SCI-Greene prison in Franklin Township. Police said Stoken possessed two empty stamp bags and a hypodermic needle while at the state prison Aug. 6.

DUI Checkpoints: State police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on county highways this week, from Tuesday through Monday and over Labor Day weekend.

Car vandalized: A car parked at 2639 E. Roy Furman Highway in Monongahela Township was vandalized Aug. 18, state police said.

Items stolen from cars: State police said someone entered multiple vehicles in the 500 block of Washington Road in Washington Township and removed items inside the cars on Aug. 18 and 19.
