Police: Man pointed loaded shotgun at woman, infant
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man is in jail after allegedly pointing a loaded, 12-gauge shotgun at his infant son and the child’s mother Wednesday afternoon.
Waynesburg police said Marquell Lawrenc Bailey, 25, of 146 W. Lincoln St., had argued with his child’s mother, Corrin Raymond, for about an hour Wednesday at their shared residence.
During the argument, he allegedly grabbed her father’s loaded shotgun and pointed it at her and their baby.
Raymond told police that Bailey said he was “going into the street to start shooting until the police arrived and when they arrived he wasn’t going down easy,” according to court documents.
Police said Raymond took the baby and ran from the residence to a neighbor’s house to contact police. When officers arrived, they secured Raymond and the baby before arresting Bailey, who was standing in front of the residence.
Bailey was charged by Waynesburg police with terroristic threats, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault.
He is being held at Greene County jail on $20,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday before Senior District Judge Jesse Cramer.
