PLEASANT HILLS (AP) – Police are trying to find the driver in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead near Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County homicide detectives say Pleasant Hills police were alerted to a man lying in the road about 9:50 p.m. Thursday. The county medical examiner has identified him as 43-year-old David Ruiz, of Carnegie.

Results of an autopsy Friday were pending.

But police say it appears Ruiz was hit by a vehicle and died after being taken to a hospital.

Police believe the vehicle that hit Ruiz has front-end and side damage and perhaps a cracked windshield.
