Canonsburg police are looking for two robbers, one who claimed to be armed with a gun, who confronted two Canonsburg teens outside a home in the 600 block of Duquesne Avenue Friday night, stealing money from one of them.

The two alleged victims, a 19-year-old man and an 17-year-old boy, were smoking on the steps outside the home when two black men wearing dark clothing walked toward them from the west, police said.

One of the alleged victims told police that he recognized one of the men, giving them a name of a 19-year-old who reportedly is staying at a Canton Township home. He told police that he did not recognize the other man.

The 19-year-old Canton man allegedly told the two victims that he had a gun and would shoot them if they did not give him their money. The two teens told police that the robber had his hand in the pouch of his hooded shirt.

The 19-year-old victim held out his wallet to show that it was empty before pulling out a $20 bill that had been hidden in it. The younger victim told the robber he had no money because he just started working and had not been paid.

The 19-year-old robber and his accomplice then turned and walked back in the direction of Adams Avenue.

A black vehicle was reportedly seen leaving the area at a high speed. Before the vehicle description was broadcast, a North Strabane Township officer approaching to assist saw a black Jeep driven by a woman speeding west on Adams. The area was checked, but the vehicle was not located.

About an hour later, a woman wanting to remain anonymous called 911 claiming to have information on the incident. Police called her and she gave the officer the name of the alleged accomplice, identifying him as a Washington man.

Washington police looked for the vehicle believed to have been used in the getaway but could not locate it. Canonsburg police are continuing the investigation.
