CHARLEROI – Two Mon Valley school districts have agreed to pay their shares of $162,500 to settle a federal lawsuit filed by a woman who was sexually assaulted when she was 15 years old by a drama coach at Charleroi Area High School.

Charleroi, through its insurance carrier, will pay $160,000, and Bethlehem-Center School District will pay $2,500 to settle the case filed in 2014 by the student, who was identified in court documents only as Jane Doe.

Former Beth-Center teacher Jeffrey Hahn Jr., who was hired by Charleroi to produce its 2012 spring musical, served a four-year prison sentence after pleading guilty that year to charges of sexual assault, corruption of minors and institutional sexual assault of a minor.

The Observer-Reporter on Monday obtained the Oct. 3 settlement terms under an open-records request.

Under the terms of the settlement, any claims the plaintiff may pursue against Hahn will not include the school districts, neither of which admitted liability in the case.
