NEW CASTLE (AP) – State troopers say they’ve shot a suspect following a chase on Interstate 376 in Western Pennsylvania.

State police say the incident began when Shenango Township police near New Castle tried to pull over what’s being called a suspicious vehicle about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police didn’t immediately explain what aroused their suspicion.

That vehicle drove off, with several local departments and the state police joining in.

At some point, the chase ended on the interstate in Union Township, where the suspect was shot and taken to a hospital.

Police haven’t named the suspect or explained why they shot him.

Investigators remained on the scene hours later.
