WAYNESBURG – A Greensboro woman, who worked as a registered nurse at the assisted-living facility previously known as Golden LivingCenter in Franklin Township, is accused of not logging prescription drug reports for medication she was supposed to be giving to patients.

The state Attorney General’s office on Monday filed 12 charges of prohibited acts for fraudulent or omitted drug reports against Amy C. Durbin, 40, of 401 Rocky Run Road.

Agent Andrew Sakmar wrote in court documents his investigation began in March after the office was notified of the nursing home’s internal investigation into medication that was unaccounted for. Durbin allegedly was not documenting medication administration properly for controlled substances, according to the criminal complaint.

The directors of the nursing home, now known as Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, reviewed drug cabinet withdrawals and medical records, which allegedly showed Durbin was “withdrawing medications which were unaccounted for by documentation on pain evaluation forms and were not recorded as administered to patients on medical administration records,” the complaint said.

The medications that are unaccounted for from Jan. 1 to 21 this year include 40 oxycodone pills and six hydrocodone-acetaminophen pills, investigators said. They said the narcotics were dispensed during Durbin’s 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift for residents who never requested the medication during other shifts. Investigators did not say what happened to the prescription medication.

Teresa Fox, the nursing director for the facility, contacted Durbin March 28 to inform her of the investigation and that Durbin would need to undergo a drug screening when she came into work later that day, the complaint said. Durbin allegedly became “verbally hostile,” refusing to come into work to be questioned or tested, Fox told investigators.

Durbin told Fox “I quit,” the complaint said.

The 12 charges relate to the 12 times Durbin allegedly accessed the automated drug cabinet at the facility at 300 Center Ave. without properly documenting the withdrawals.

Jackie Hainer, the facility’s director, said Tuesday Durbin no longer works at the nursing home, but declined to say how long she worked there or when she left.
