South Strabane Township police are asking residents of the Lee Avenue area to check their vehicles for missing belongings after they took a Pittsburgh man into custody Friday while investigating a complaint of two people breaking into vehicles.
Troy Ethridge, 28, of Pittsburgh, and Amanda McGary, 28, of Washington, were found about 7:40 a.m. by police in the 700 block of Locust Avenue after police got a complaint from a resident two people were walking around breaking into vehicles. The caller provided police a description of the two people.
Police said they found Ethridge with a backpack containing a variety of items, including global-positioning system units, cellphones, an iPad, cologne, amplifiers and drill bits. Police were able to track down to contact the owner of the iPad, who told them that he last saw his device when he was at a restaurant on Oak Spring Road.
Ethridge and McGary were placed in Washington County Jail on adult probation warrants. Ethridge will be charged with theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. Anyone who may have had items stolen is asked to call Officer Eric Holt at 724-225-8111.
