Washington woman arrested in Pittsburgh
A Washington woman was arrested early Sunday outside a bar on Pittsburgh’s South Side after she allegedly assaulted Pittsburgh police officers who were trying to take her into custody.
Danae Aleantsic Blaze, 26, is charged with five counts of aggravated assault on police and one count each of resisting arrest, defiant trespass and simple assault.
A doorman outside Mario’s South Side Saloon reportedly denied Blaze’s entry into the bar after she tried to cut in front of a long line of people, according to information provided by Sonya M. Toler, public information officer for Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Safety.
Blaze reportedly refused to go to the end of the line, and the doorman directed her to leave. Blaze allegedly assumed a three-point stance similar to one used by a football lineman and charged the doorman, according to information from police.
Blaze allegedly ran into the doorman but did not knock him over. The doorman pushed her, causing her to fall back as city police approached. Blaze got up and started to walk away with her right hand inside her right pants pocket as police ordered her to stop. She ignored the officers, according to the report.
When an officer tried to stop Blaze by placing his left arm inside her right arm, she allegedly punched him in the face. When she was told she was under arrest as two other city police officers approached her, Blaze reportedly began punching at them. One officer swept her legs out from under her, and they were able to place her in handcuffs.
She was arraigned before District Judge James Motznik and released on a nonmonetary bond. She is scheduled for a Feb. 25 preliminary hearing before Judge Jeffrey Manning.
