Hire advances plan for Ringgold school New building to open in August 2017
NEW EAGLE – Ringgold School Board hired a construction manager Wednesday to oversee the new middle school project at the district’s high school campus in Carroll Township.
The hiring of Massaro CM Services of Pittsburgh came after the district on Feb. 10 began to seek bids from contractors who are interested in building the $42.6-million school off Route 136.
“This is a major investment in the Mon Valley and our children,” board President William Stein said following the board meeting in the district’s administration building in New Eagle.
“We’ve talked about this for so long,” Stein said.
Massaro will either be paid $511,550 over 16 months or $586,000 over 20 months under contract documents the school board will approve at a later date, district records show.
The two-story school will be constructed in the shape of a rectangle with an open central courtyard. Construction is expected to begin on the school April 4, and it’s scheduled for completion in August 2017.
