Property pictures set today
As part of the ongoing reassessment project, Tyler Technologies Inc.’s verification and imaging van has returned to the county today to photograph Washington County properties that were either missed or did not meet the county’s or Tyler’s quality control standards.
The crew will be operating a 2014 white Ford E-150 van with Missouri plate 1WS-682. Signs will be affixed to the van.
The driver and camera technician will be wearing yellow safety vests with the Tyler logo and will display their county photo identification badges.
Tyler, which is calculating values for all properties in the county, also is conducting a second series of meetings to explain the new tax assessments that property owners will be receiving in March.
One of the informational meetings is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Peters Township Middle School.
What Tyler is calling “informal value review meetings” will be held in the Chapman Building, 351 W. Beau St., Washington, in March and April to iron out errors in factual data for a property.
If a property owner is not satisfied with the results of an informal review, he or she may file a formal appeal with the county Tax Revenue Department no later than Sept. 1.
The values will first be used to calculate new property tax bills starting with the 2017 tax year. Counties and municipalities operate on a calendar year while school districts’ fiscal year begins July 1.
Tyler Technologies, of Moraine, Ohio, was the successful bidder in August 2013 for the $6.96 million computer-assisted mass appraisal of 118,000 properties in Washington County, and it completed initial data collection for commercial properties.
