CARMICHAELS – A Cumberland Township man charged with engaging in sex acts with a 13-year-old girl at her Crucible home in October was held for court on most of the charges Thursday.

Jesse Jenkins, 22, of 611 Brownsferry Road, was ordered by District Judge Lee Watson to stand trial on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, indecent assault and furnishing alcohol to a minor. A felony charge of statutory sex assault was withdrawn.

Cumberland Township police said Jenkins tried to have sex with the girl and later asked her to perform sex acts on him while he was at her house Oct. 20. Police said he supplied her with beer and marijuana before the encounter.

Police said the girl told investigators she was awakened by Jenkins while sleeping and the two of them went into a bathroom and tried to have sex, but later performed sex acts on each other. Jenkins told police the girl initiated the encounter, court documents indicate.

Cumberland Township police charged Jenkins Nov. 15. He is free on a $50,000 percentage bond while awaiting his formal arraignment, which has not yet been set.
