Lions Club honors outstanding students
West Greene Lions Club recently recognized three West Greene High School students, Amanda Frampton, Laura Wise and Sarra Zimmerman as outstanding students.
Wise, a daughter of Andy and Mary Ellen Wise of Graysville, has been a class officer for four years, an officer for student government for two years and has been involved in school publications for three years.
She is a member of the chorus for two years and the art club for one year. She played volleyball for four years, basketball for one year and participated in track for three years.
Wise was a Girl Scout for 12 years and received bronze and silver awards. She participated in Powder Puff for four years.
Wise did community service work at the humane society and Cherry Door and served ice cream at the Jacktown Fair.
She plans to attend Slippery Rock University and major in secondary education and mathematics.
Zimmerman, a daughter of Jim and Sherry Zimmerman, is a member of National Honor Society, is class vice president and president of the drama club. She participates in chorus and county chorus.
Zimmerman is co-founder and host of the West Greene Talent Show. She traveled with the school’s international club to Greece and Italy.
She also participated in mock trial and received awards for best attorney and best witness. She is an algebra tutor.
Zimmerman participated in community theater and was in numerous plays and musical, including “The Mousetrap,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Dear Edwina Jr.”
She plans to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theater.
Frampton, a daughter of Stephen and Debra Frampton of New Freeport, is a member of National Honor Society, international club and art club.
She was accepted into the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and participated in the orchestra from 2014 to the present. She participated in Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra from 2011 to 2013.
Frampton received the American Citizenship Award, Academic Excellence Achievement Award and the President’s Education Program Award for Educational Excellence.
She participated in community service with Greene County Historical Society, Waynesburg Tourism, Greene County Parks and Recreation, Community Foundation of Greene County, Waynesburg Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Nathaniel Greene Historical Society, American Cancer Society and the Walk for Alzheimer’s for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Frampton plans to continue her studies with the violin at West Virginia University and major in music performance.
