Police Beat Jan. 22

One injured: Michael Hildebrand of Strabane was injured when his vehicle and a state Department of Transportation plow truck driven by Jonathan Hamilton of Jefferson Hills collided Tuesday morning on West Pike Street near Vandale Drive, Chartiers police said. Hildebrand was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Rings stolen: Christopher Cale of Holly Drive told Chartiers police Monday that wedding rings were stolen from his home.
Assault charges: Kirk E. Cooper, 32, of 8 First St., East Bethlehem, was arrested Wednesday by state police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly threw a cellphone at Jena Marie Pust before grabbing her by the hair and throwing her to the floor. He is accused of punching and kicking her while she was on the floor. Pust went to his home to retrieve her belongings, police said. She fled and went to Washington Hospital for treatment. Cooper was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Warrant arrest: Maclean J. Maydak, 39, of 132 Station St., McDonald, turned himself in to borough police Tuesday. He was wanted on a bench warrant issued by Allegheny County Court’s family division. He was turned over to Allegheny County sheriff’s deputies and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
Assault arrest: Timothy John Huggins Sr., 38, of 114 Second Ave., Monongahela, was arrested Wednesday night by Monongahela police on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of shoving Courtney Szalkay to the floor. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment of head and rib injuries. Huggins was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Theft arrest: Miesha Renee Bell, 24, of Johnstown, formerly of Washington, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by South Strabane police. Bell is charged with theft of mislaid property. She allegedly stole a wallet left behind by a customer at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Murtland Avenue, last February. She was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County Jail on $2,500 bond.
Parole violation: William L. Strawn, 52, of 2770 Jefferson Ave., was placed in Washington County jail Wednesday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Strawn’s state parole agent contacted Washington police after allegedly finding three stamp bags in Strawn’s wallet and a hypodermic needle in his vehicle during a compliance check.
