Police beat Jan. 23

Burglary arrest: Adam Todd Ruthers, 29, of St. Albans, W.Va., was arraigned Friday before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, theft and receiving stolen property. He is accused of breaking into the home of James Hopps in the 3400 block of Route 40, Buffalo, on Aug. 12, 2013. He is accused of stealing a laptop computer and hard drive owned by Erwin Wietrick. Fingerprints left at the scene led to his arrest. Ruthers had been in Northern Regional jail in West Virginia since 2013. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Woman charged: Angela Hollman, 40, of 200 Alexander Ave., Strabane, was charged this week by Chartiers police with failure to furnish drug-free urine after she allegedly had a pill bottle filled with urine during testing by her Washington County adult probation officer on Jan. 11. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Access device fraud: Tara Jean Boidock, 35, of Houston, was charged this week by Houston police with theft and access device fraud for allegedly using her mother’s credit card without permission last month. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Copper stolen: Donald Zalaznik Jr. told McDonald police Thursday that copper wire was stolen from his business at 2205 Quicksilver Road, Robinson. He said that a man wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and carrying a bookbag is seen on surveillance entering the building at 3:24 a.m.
Theft charge: Devin Thomas Scholato, 26, of 1381 Allison Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday by South Strabane police with retail theft after he allegedly stole items from Kohl’s, Strabane Square.
One injured: Patricia Madison of Washington was injured when the vehicle in which she was a passenger and another vehicle collided about 8:35 a.m. Friday. South Strabane police said she was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Paul Fonner Jr., also of Washington. Fonner ‘s vehicle and one driven by Cheryl Speers of Washington collided at North Main Street and Humbert Lane. Speers’ vehicle then struck a brick pillar at North Main and Colonial Heights Boulevard. Madison was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Charged in crash: Michael Patrick Steratore, 40, of 2032 Meadowridge Drive, North Strabane, was charged Tuesday by South Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash, following too closely, careless driving, abandoning his vehicle, public drunkenness and having an open container of alcohol stemming from a Jan. 14 crash on Racetrack Road at Washington Road. Police said he struck the rear of another vehicle and then fled on foot. He refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test when he was apprehended by police. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Drug charges: Rachel Marie Whipkey, 34, of 16 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, was charged by South Strabane police with possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine and narcotics, possession of paraphernalia, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness stemming from an incident Monday afternoon at Giant Eagle, Strabane Square. Police were called for a report of a suspicious woman after customers complained about her. Police reportedly found her with narcotics as well as more than $2,400. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Charged in theft: Jason Allan Simms, 30, of 145 W. Walnut St., Washington, was charged Tuesday by South Strabane police with retail theft and theft by deception after he allegedly stole items from Walmart, Trinity Point, on Sunday and returned the items for a $206 gift card.
Computer, purse stolen: Alisha Bostic of Washington told Washington police Wednesday her laptop computer, Coach purse and iPad were stolen while she was staying at an apartment at 173 Church St.
Items stolen: Tracey Barrie, of 57 Shannon Ave., told Washington police Wednesday two flat screen televisions, prescription medication, jewelry, camera, Lego sets, compact disc player, compact discs and Star Wars glasses were stolen from her home. She identified a potential suspect to police.
Window broken: Renee Riggs of Claysville told Washington police that the rear window of her vehicle was broken while parked at Ambulance and Chair Service, Braden Avenue, on Wednesday.
Account accessed: G.L. Riley, 154 N. College St., reported to Washington police Thursday his bank accounted had been accessed and between $500 and $600 was stolen.
