Police beat Jan. 26

Unlicensed firearm charge: Carmichaels police said they charged Richard L. Vernon Sr., 51, of Allison, Fayette County, with carrying an unlicensed firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct following a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Greene Street in the borough Jan. 14.
Package allegedly stolen: Samantha Lynn Strahan, 19, of 108 Parkview Knoll, Carmichaels, was charged last week with theft and receiving stolen property after Cumberland Township police said she stole a package placed on a neighbor’s doorstep Jan. 1.
Access device fraud: charge Cumberland Township police charged Ryan S. Havanis, 32, of 10 Biddle Acres, Carmichaels, with six counts each of access device fraud and identity theft after investigators said he stole a township man’s credit card and used it six times late last year. Havanis also faces one charge of receiving stolen property.
Crashes reported: State police responded to two crashes Friday afternoon near the Kirby/Garards Fort exit on Interstate 79, both caused by icy road conditions. No injuries were reported and the names of the drivers were not released by police. At 3:35 p.m., a car traveling north ran off the road, onto a bank and flipped onto its roof. At 4:27 p.m., a car traveling south ran off the road and struck guardrail.
