Police Beat Jan. 27

DUI alleged in crash: Dru Floyd West, 54, of Washington, will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a Jan. 10 hit-and-run crash on Banetown Road, Amwell, state police said.
Man reports assault: Travis Holt, 26, of Canonsburg, told Canonsburg police he was assaulted early Tuesday outside McGrogan’s Taproom, 45 E. Pike St., by another man who also had been in the bar. Holt told police his assailant head-butted him, causing an eye injury, before fleeing in a vehicle. Holt was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. The alleged assailant was identified, and charges are pending.
Mischief charge: David Fender Jr. of Cecil will be charged by state police with criminal mischief after he allegedly cut a tire on a vehicle owned by Kody Ray of Avella while it was parked Friday in the lot of Wendy’s on West Chestnut Street.
Burglary reported: Two rifles, a hunting bow, a 42-inch television, an iPad and an iPhone were reported stolen Monday from a home in the 400 block of Morganza Road.
Driver faces charges: Sharon Kanary, 44, of 228 Brehm Road, North Strabane Township, is facing a DUI charge after Chartiers police said they found her pickup truck stuck in snow in the 700 block of Ridge Avenue about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to Canonsburg Hospital, where blood was drawn to determine her alcohol level.
Truck hit: Matthew Dewees, 23, of Meadow Lands, faces charges including DUI stemming from a hit-and-run crash on North Main Street near Arden Village about 6:15 a.m. Friday. Chartiers police said he hit a garbage truck and fled. He was found a short time later in his vehicle at Pike and Barnickle streets, Meadow Lands.
Card stolen: Samantha Bryan of McKees Rocks told Chartiers police Monday her debit card was stolen from her vehicle Saturday while it was parked at Gabby’s Black & Gold, 2440 W. Pike St.
Gaming violation alleged: State police cited Arden Athletic Club, 25 Seik Road, Friday for violating the law on small games of chance records for two years prior to Dec. 22. Charges will be brought before an administrative law judge.
DUI alleged in crash: Brian R. Magenis, 58, of 18 Francis St., Eighty Four, will be charged by North Strabane police with DUI after a crash just before 11 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of South Central Avenue. Police said his vehicle went up an embankment, across a driveway and struck a retaining wall. His blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed, police said. He was not injured.
Two hurt: Two people were hurt in a single-car accident at 2:06 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Froebe Road, near the Bebout Road intersection. Police said the driver, Alphonso Griffin Jr., 25, of 115 Valleyview Drive, Finleyville, told police he was not familiar with the road and lost control of the vehicle as he rounded a curve. Griffin and his passenger, Quinn Maree Sherrill, 22, of 118 Locust Circle, Canonsburg, were taken to Canonsburg Hospital.
Theft reported: A waitress at Juniper Grill on Washington Road told police Sunday that someone stole a $700 camera, a $200 coat and $100 that belonged to her. She had left the items in a restroom in the restaurant, police said.
Three-car accident: Police said Robert Hinch, 51, of Washington, was southbound on Washington Road near the Crosswinds Drive intsection at 11:33 a.m. Monday when he struck the rear of a car driven by Jeanne Dinardo, 77, of Canonsburg. The impact of that crash pushed Dinardo’s car into the rear of a car driven by David McNabb, 77, of Valley Grove, W.Va., who was stopped at a light. Dinardo suffered a facial contusion but refused medical treatment.
Wire stolen: About 2,300 feet of electrical wire was reported stolen Monday from a home under construction in the 100 block of Wild Briar Drive in Venetia.
Assault arrest: William Wilk, 53, of 485 Broad St., Washington, was arrested Monday by Washington police on a charge of simple assault after he allegedly assaulted Bonnie Post, 57, also of 485 Broad, by grabbing her by the head and neck. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Gun stolen: Christopher Davenport told Washington police Monday that a .45-caliber handgun, two magazines and 11 rounds were stolen from his residence in the 1300 block of Donnan Avenue.
DUI, marijuana charges: Ivan Ramirez-Patlan, 26, of Baltimore, Md., was arrested by state police Jan. 4 after being pulled over for a faulty brake light on East Maiden Street. Ramirez-Patlan allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and was found to have a small amount in his possession, police said. He was transported to Washington Hospital for blood tests. Charges including possession of a small amount of marijuana and DUI will be sent by summons.
Paraphernalia charges: April R. Irwin, 24, of 787 Regent Drive, Washington, was charged by Washington police with six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia after her bag was searched Feb. 28 in Family Dollar, 101 E. Wylie Ave. According to the complaint, police were called for a report of a possible retail theft. Police said Irwin allowed a search of her purse, which revealed four capped syringes and six empty stamp bags. Charges will be sent by summons.
