Two Washington men are in custody on charges they led city police on a foot chase following an attempted burglary Tuesday night.

Daquawn Robinson of 830 Addison St. and Marc Wilkerson of 88 E. Maiden St. are accused of attempting to enter a house on Huffman Avenue about 7:30 p.m. and then fleeing on foot when the noise they were making caused the resident to turn on a porch light, police stated in court records.

The resident told police he noticed fresh, wet footprints on his deck and matching footprints in the snow in his yard.

Police said they spotted the suspects on Old York Road, prompting the pair to run through several yards to the 300 block of Trinity Drive while an officer chased after them.

A handgun was discovered under a table beside a shed shortly before Wilkerson, 20, was apprehended while attempting to hide behind a tree, police said in the affidavit.

Police said they followed fresh footprints in the snow to a shed where Robinson, 20, was hiding.

Both men are charged with attempted burglary, possessing a firearm without a license, conspiracy, flight to avoid apprehension and loitering.

They are in Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
