Kirsten Eliza Garber

WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Kirsten Eliza Garber and Jack Fudala were selected by the high school faculty as the Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for January.

Garber, daughter of Lisa and John Garber of Waynesburg, has a 3.93 grade point average and is a member of student council, National Honor Society and varsity club. She is secretary of Youth Alive.

She has played varsity basketball for four years and has been captain of the team for three years. She has participated in varsity track and field for three years.

She is vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a coach in the Little Dribblers youth basketball program.

Garber has received various awards for basketball. She received the Most Heart Award and was rookie of the year in 2012-13. She was the leading scorer and leader in assists in 2014-15.

Garber was named to the Finest Fifteen for Section 4AA Basketball in 2014-15 and was Greene Sports’ Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 18.

Garber has been a small group leader for the Waynesburg First Church of the Nazarene Youth Group since she was in seventh grade and was a day camp counselor for Waynesburg Parks and Recreation.

She plans to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University and major in education.

Fudala, son of Vicki and Mark Fudala of Waynesburg, has a 4.0 grade point average.

He is senior class president, president of the Future Business Leaders of America and vice president of the young voters club. He is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Physics Club.

He is a starter on the Academic League team and is a member of the prom court.

Fudala is captain of the football team and a four-year varsity football letterman. He is head coach of the powderpuff team.

Fudala has received highest honors throughout high school. He received the Anna G. Meighen World History Award, was named a Centennial Chevrolet Fall Scholar Athlete and received the Lee Baker Award for most valuable offensive football player.

Fudala attends the First Presbyterian Church and is a member of Crossroads Youth Ministry. He participated in an international mission trip to Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic; and domestic mission trips to Johnstown, Pittsburgh and Buffalo, N.Y. He is a Salvation Army bell ringer.

Fudala plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and obtain a master’s degree in finance.
