Woman dead after being hit by truck in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police in Pittsburgh say a woman has died after being hit by a truck Friday evening.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. when the woman stepped into Maytide Street near Bethesda Street in the city’s Carrick neighborhood.
A police spokeswoman says in a statement that the victim was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m.
There was no immediate word on whether the driver of the truck stayed at the scene but police say it wasn’t a hit-and-run incident.
The accident is under investigation.
