O-R Weekend Recap: 5 things you need to know for Tuesday
The Fourth of July weekend has passed, but there was a lot happening in Southwestern Pennsylvania this weekend. To help you catch up with any news you might have missed while finding a way celebrate around the unfortunately rainy weather, we’ve compiled this list of five news stories you need to know about for Tuesday!
Two Washington 18-year-olds were ordered to stand trial on charges including homicide Friday.
Tavian Hooper and Jamaal Greene are accused of a May 4 shooting that killed 19-year-old Alexis Barnett and injured her friend, 21-year-old Jasmine Young.
Witness testimony at the preliminary hearing placed Hooper and Greene at the scene, while defense attorneys argued the charges should be dismissed because of lack of evidence.

Bentleyville residents celebrated their borough’s bicentennial Saturday with a parade that kicked off a four-day celebration of the borough.
Highlights of the parade included reading a prediction letter from a 1966 time capsule, re-enactors explaining family history and ancestral history and demonstrations of Civil War-era medical techniques.

Canonsburg’s famous Fourth of July parade was held Monday and despite overcast skies and a threat of rain, thousands of people turned out for the 54th annual spectacle. In fact, it is estimated that about 40,000 come out every year for the parade.
There were more than 110 entries in the parade, including high school bands, dance troupes, floats, unicyclists, musical acts and more.

Chris and Cassie Augenstein are original members of the Wonders Unicycle Club, a nationally affiliated group that participates in parades and competitions throughout the year, including the Canonsburg Fourth of July parade.
The club has 100 members, with about a dozen participating regularly, and has won several medals at national competitions.

A Monongahela man died early Saturday after the vehicle he was driving hit an embankment on state Route 837 near Monongahela.
Randall M. Morgan, 40, lost control of the vehicle at about 2:10 a.m. and was not wearing a seatbelt according to the coroner’s report.
A passenger in the vehicle was flown to an area hospital and Carroll Township police are investigating the incident.
