Man arrested on drug charges
MONESSEN – A Waynesburg man is in custody on charges he possessed 45 stamp bags of heroin during a traffic stop Wednesday in Monessen.
District Judge Joseph Dalfonso sent Matthew Schneider, 25, of 373 Nazer St., to Westmoreland County jail on $25,000 bond Thursday on charges of drug possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records indicate.
Police said Schneider was a passenger in a vehicle involved in an 8:37 p.m. traffic stop at Route 906 and Riverview Drive in the Westmoreland County city.
Officers became suspicious of the vehicle’s occupants because the person in the rear passenger seat moving from side to side and bending over after the vehicle was stopped, the affidavit states.
Schneider was taken into custody and searched. Police claim to have found 38 empty stamp bags in his wallet and 45 containing the drug in a small bag shoved down his pants.
