Rain Day Race registration opens
Greene County Habitat for Humanity is holding registration for runners and walkers who want to participate in the 38th annual Rain Day Race July 23 on Porter Street in Waynesburg.
Registrations are currently being accepted for the 5K run and walk and one-mile Kids’ Fun Run.
Proceeds from Rain Day Race benefit Greene County Habitat for Humanity in its mission to build decent and affordable housing for Greene County residents.
Race applications are available at the Habitat office, 32 S. Church St., Waynesburg, or online at the www.greenecountyhabitat.net.
Registration for 5K runners and walkers is $15 until July 15.
The registration fee will be $18 the day of the race. Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run is $10 until July 15 and $12 the day of the race. Those who register in advance will receive a shirt and promotional gift bag.
The race begins at the intersection of Porter and High streets in Waynesburg. The out and back course includes rolling hills and will have a volunteer-manned water stop at the halfway point.
The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K at 9:30 a.m.
Awards will be given in several categories: The top three overall male and female runners in the 5K; the top five overall male and female walkers in the 5K; and the top three male and female runners in each age group in the 5K and Kids’ Fun Run. All participants in Kids’ Fun Run will receive a finisher’s ribbon.
The age groups for the Kids’ Fun Run are 5 and under, ages 6-7, 8-9 and 10-12. The age groups for the 5K are 14 and under, ages 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older.
