A crew from Pennsylvania American Water was working late Friday afternoon to restore service for about 40 customers after a water main broke on Church Alley in Chartiers Township.

Company spokesman Gary Lobaugh said the break in the eight-inch cast-iron main occurred about 4:45 p.m.

He expected repairs to be completed in four to six hours of when the main ruptured.
