Crash injuries: Two people were injured in a head-on crash on Route 231(Finley Drive) about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. State police in Washington said a vehicle driven by Derek S. Szygenda, 22, of East Finley Township, was traveling westbound near Deer Trail Road, crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound vehicle operated by Susan J. David, 61, of West Finley Township. Police reported Szygenda received an apparent minor injury, David an injury of unknown severity, and both were transported to a hospital by Washington Ambulance & Chair Service. Szygenda was charged in the incident.
Blaze: State police at Troop B Washington continue to investigate a blaze of undetermined origin that broke out around 10:45 p.m. June 21 at 47 Broad St. The fire marshal determined the fire began on or near the living room floor and estimated damage at $75,000. Police ask anyone with information to call the fire marshal unit at 724-223-5200.
Assault: An Eighty Four man faces multiple charges following an alleged altercation with a North Strabane Township police officer Friday about 4:30 p.m. According to state police in Washington, North Strabane police responded to a call about an alleged incident at Eighty Four Parking Co., Route 136, and found John Anthony Hill, 31, passed out on a bench. According to the report, township officer Matthew James Salarno awakened Hill, whom police were and ordered him to turn around to be handcuffed. Hill, the report said, resisted and got into an altercation with the officer before being subdued, taken into custody and turned over to state police. Troopers said an investigation showed the defendant illegally entered an area of the property. He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing, and was remanded to the Washington County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Burglary: Someone entered a residence on Valley Road between 8:15 and 10:45 p.m. June 26, stole money and left through the back door, according to state police in Washington.
