Two identified in orphans’ chorus
Leapin’ lizards! Is that Annie and fellow orphans, and are they singing “Tomorrow”?
Bet your bottom dollar.
Kim Kirby, who is on the left, and April Carrigan, on the right, contacted us last Monday when they saw themselves in the current Mystery Photo. They graduated from Waynesburg Central High School in 2002 and were members of the Ladies Show Choir.
“It was Waynesburg Central’s choir concert,” Carrigan wrote in an email. “We were singing a medley from the musical ‘Annie.’ That was in December 2000, the last month of Bill Clinton’s presidency.”
Kirby now works as a certified nursing assistant at a care home in Waynesburg. She has children aged 4 and 1.
“I still run into April from time to time, and we are friends on Facebook,” Kirby said.
Neither Kirby nor Carrigan, who now lives in Washington, could identify the girl in the middle who played Annie. Both think her name is Amy, and Carrigan believes she would have graduated in 2003.
“It was 16 years ago,” Kirby said with a groan.
When the three of them sang, “The sun will come up tomorrow,” they were right. It has come up approximately 5,625 times since the night of the concert.
