AAA office will close
WAYNEBSURG – The AAA branch office in Greene County will close at the end of the month.
The office, which is at Greene Plaza in Franklin Township, will close July 29 because of a decline in membership in the region and a decline in office visits, said Bevi Powell, senior vice president of public affairs for East Central AAA.
The costs of operating a branch office are escalating, which played a part in the decision, she said.
The closing should not result in any changes in services, many of which are now available online and through the AAA app, Powell said.
For services that require a visit to an office, including for licensing and passport photos, the agency has offices in Uniontown, 111 W. Main St., and Washington, 196 Murtland Ave.
The Greene County office employs two full-time employees and one part-time employee. The employees have been offered positions at other AAA offices, Powell said.
