Plans will be revealed later this month for an upcoming construction project that will replace one of the bridges over Little Whiteley Creek and remove another along state Route 1016 that runs parallel to Route 21 near Paisley.

The project will reconstruct the bridge along Route 1016 closest to Route 21 and demolish the other about 800 feet away that straddles Cumberland and Monongahela townships, the state Department of Transportation announced.

PennDOT officials said they will build cul-de-sacs on both sides of the removed bridge, and looping “jug handle” turnarounds will be installed on both sides of Route 21 so motorists can continue to access state Route 1016.

The public can review construction plans during the meeting July 27 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Monongahela Township Municipal Building, 128 Maple Ridge Road, Greensboro.

Public comments can be made at the meeting or sent to PennDOT Project Manager Brian Svesnik at 825 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., P.O. Box 459, Uniontown, PA 15401-0459. Svesnik can also be reached by phone at 724-415-2400 or by emailing bsvesnik@pa.gov.
