A second helicopter lands near the scene of a single-car accident Friday evening in Somerset Township.

Two people were flown by helicopter to Pittsburgh hospitals following a single-car accident on Carlton Road in Somerset Township shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

According to state police in Washington, the driver of a Buick sedan failed to negotiate a bend in the road and struck a tree.

The woman was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital. A male passenger was flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

Police did not release the names of the victims.

Assisting at the scene and the helicopter landing zones, including one on the Interstate 70 on-ramp at the Dunningsville exit, were Somerset and Fallowfield townships and Valley Inn fire departments, along with Bearcat EMS and Tri-County Ambulance.

Police said the accident is under investigation.
