Waynesburg U. to host running forum
Waynesburg University men’s and women’s cross country teams will host a distance running forum next month on campus.
The July 23 event is free and open to all runners from high school to master’s level, but is particularly designed to help high school coaches and runners make the transition to college competition.
Openings are limited and those interested in attending should contact Waynesburg head cross country coach Chris Hardie by e-mail at chardie@waynesburg.edu.
The forum will begin at noon at Goodwin Performing Arts Center. The schedule for the day includes:
• 11:30 a.m. Registration and check in.
• Noon to 12:45 p.m. High school training with Ringgold head coach Jennifer McMichael
• 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. “Front Runner” training with Waynesburg University staff
• 1:30 to 2 p.m. Split sessions: pick one
Parents/Coaches – Mentoring advice and tips by Waynesburg cross country head coach Chris Hardie
Athletes/Coaches – Example dynamic warm-up by Waynesburg men’s cross country coach Laurel Rush
• 2 to 2:45 p.m. Differences between college and high school training by Waynesburg University women’s cross country coach Michelle Cross
• 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Diet and hydration by Dr. Robert Bonser
• 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Runner’s roundtable with seven experts with varying backgrounds
• 4:15 – 5:00 p.m. Optional campus tour
