• Action: At the request of the Planning Department, the board authorized the submission of a performance grant application to the state Department of Environmental Protection for recycling. The performance grant claims 968 tons of recycled materials from collection containers for an estimated return of $4,500 to Washington County to be used for additional recycling collections.
At the request of the Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Department, the commissioners approved an agreement with Charryse Cooper to provide trauma informed care training this month at a cost to not exceed $1,200.
At the request of the Purchasing Department and correctional facility, the board approved a revision of the current agreement with Keefe Supply Co. of Strongsville, Ohio, to standardize the service fees at $4 for those using a kiosk to make deposits on behalf of inmates at the jail.
• Appointment: Gay Massey from the Canonsburg Senior Center to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, replacing Ann Suhon, who died recently.
• At a salary board meeting also Thursday morning, an annual salary of $69,838 was set for the jail’s acting warden who will take over at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 11, upon the retirement of Warden John Temas. The position of acting warden is to be abolished when a new warden is hired.
