Washington schools refute drug rumors
Rumors about alleged drug use or exposure around elementary students Thursday morning were quashed by Washington School District administrators.
Superintendent Dr. Roberta DiLorenzo said a voicemail went out to students and parents through the Blackboard messaging system about a Washington Park Elementary student who experienced a medical emergency.
“Staff immediately responded to a student who seemed unwell as that student entered the building. An ambulance was called, as that was part of protocol, and at no point were students in danger or ever exposed to drugs, as was being talking about on Facebook posts Thursday morning,” DiLorenzo said.
DiLorenzo said administrators typically don’t respond to rumors, but the viral nature and seriousness of the rumor required a response.
